The
PAMPOROVO ski resort is situated 1650m above sea level, at the foot
of peak Snejanka (1926m), in the Rhodopa Mountain. It is located in
a region famous for its unique folklore traditions within 260km of Sofia
and 85km of Bulgaria's second-largest city, Plovdiv.
Pamporovo is a ski-centre for all categories of skiers,it has excellent
ski runs including even a racing ski run for giant slalom, as well as
a first class built-up ski lift system. There is a ski-school of international
category too, with more than 100 highly qualified instructors.
The
climate of Pamporovo is an exclusive one, featuring a soft winter with
an average of 120 sunny days and extensive snow, while the snow cover
reaches a thickness of 1.40 meters. Pamporovo is under the significant
meteorological influence of the Aegean Sea with a skiing season from
mid-December to mid-April. Average air temperature during January, the
coldest month of the year, is minus 3o C, while the negative ionization
of the crystal clear air is both a major longevity factor and a bulwark
against winter colds. The resort is protected from the industrial pollution
of air.
The
ski school is known internationally for its experienced instructors.
They will teach the beginners in groups or individually 2 to 4 hours
daily. The duration of the different skiing classes is between 3 and
12 days. All course graduates will get a certificate. Ski runs with
varying grades Most of the ski runs start on top of peak Snezhanka.
The experienced skiers can try out "The Wall", the rest will start with
"The Tourist's" run. The are 4 nursery slopes at the foot of Snezhanka
pick.
34 kilometeters of cross country tracks are available for skiing. All
the slopes are serviced by an excellent system of lifts and drags.14
ski rentals offer more than 3200 sets of skiing equipment as well as
toboggans, sledges and snowboards. Ski school, unlimited lift usage,
ski rental or storage of own skiing equipment as well as busservice
to the slopes.Children between 5 and 8 can visit the kindergarten at
the ski school which is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Emergency
Ski Patrol operates 24 hours a day.
The ski runs of Pamporovo come in all difficulty levels. They are located
between 1926 and 1450m above sea level on the northern, eastern and
western slopes of the Snejanka peak with the major ski runs actually
starting from the top of the peak itself. The so-called Tourist Ski
Run is particularly pleasant. There are 4 nursery slopes at the foot
of Snejanka peak and along its western slope - Snejanka-South, the Bus
Station, Malina and Panorama runs - which are serviced by drags. There
